Black Hugo Boss shadow stripe skirt suit, NEW white Splendid cotton scoop-neck t-shirt with peasant sleeves, black pumps (changing to my Amalfi's when I get to work because I left them there last night, these were just for the picture).

I like pairing a t-shirt with a suit, it makes it seem less stuffy. This t-shirt also has some details (like the neckline and the sleeves) that raise it above plain old t-shirt status. I also love a new white shirt or t-shirt. They are kind of decadent, because they don't look new for very long.

This suit would be more flattering if the skirt was A-line, but I think that a straight skirt is seen as more professional. It's not too narrow, so I think it's OK.

Black classiques pants, Amalfi heels and Banana Republic cami. Blue BCBG blouse, new Steve Madden belt

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Halogen black full belted skirt, NEW embroidred floral top.

I got lots of compliments on this (it wasn't as wrinkly when I started my day). I really like this top!

Monday, July 28, 2008

So, my church convention is coming up in August, and these are the things I think I'm going to take:

Black Hugo Boss suit with green silk chiffon Classiques blouse (I may belt this)

(Pic coming)
New Valette herringbone strapless dress over new white scoop-neck Splendid t-shirt

Red and Orange Classiques jacket with black accordian pleat back Semantiks pencil skirt and cream Caslon cami

RN Convertible gray jersey dress with black Ann Taylor cardigan

(pic coming)
Burberry trench (if I can get it altered by then)

The only think I'm not sure about is what shoes to bring. I am thinking flats, since it's outdoors, and also because it usually rains at least once. I hate to give up my heels completely, though! I may hit the Payless Shoes near my bus stop on the way home and find some cheap heels that I don't mind ruining.

Last Monday as a Business Analyst!

RN Convertible gray jersey draped dress, Ann Taylor black cotton cardigan, black Vince Camuto round-toe pumps

I like this dress, although not sure about the way it stretches over my legs. I think it would be cuter with a shorter cardigan. In fact, seeing the difference between the proportions of the cream skirt and green top and other clothes I often wear I am realizing that:

1. I need to make sure my waistlines are always fairly high

2. Most flattering outfits will be a-line and fall to just below the knee

Sunday Afternoon

Pic 1: cream eyelet A-line skirt hand-me-down from my mom, green Stem tshirt, gold BP sandals with wooden heel

This shirt is way to low cut! But, I like the skirt with the gold sandal. I think the silhouette is right, I just can't wear a top that shows so much cleavage!

Pic 2: 3.1 Phillip Lim t-shirt, Seven denim pencil skirt, tie back leggings, Me Too black patent ballet flats

It's funny how much more comfortable I am in this, even though it's not as slimming as pic #1. I wish the skirt were A-line with a high waist so I could tuck the shirt in.

Long black shadow-stripe straight skirt by Hugo Boss (goes with a matching jacket that I'm not wearing), New red embroidered long sleeve top by JWLA (purchased with birthday money from sweetie at Sweetie (-: ), black Amalfi pumps

It was cool today (rained good last night, so we don't have to water plants today!), so long sleeves were nice to have. I LOVE this embroidered top. Usually I don't go for bold things like this, but it fits well (although a little too long) and the I just really like the embroidery. I think the placement of it is flattering, and it looks slightly ethnic (Scandinavian? Spanish? South American?) without being costume-y. I also like the cuffs. This top can be dressed up or down. I think I will get a lot of wear out of it this Fall and Winter.

LAMade knit cashmere tank, Banana Republic black tshirt, new Steve Madden belt, Joe's Muse jeans, linea paolo snip-toe flats

I think this makes me look a little chubby. The belt is fine, and I don't even mind the sweater (although it's too long - a dilemma I've always had which is why I hardly wear it), but the jeans are too faded. I am going to get my Goldsign jeans taken up so I can wear them with flats and maybe keep these for grubby.

Paige wide leg jeans, white boned shirt with sheer puff sleeves, new burgundy cardigan from Banana Republic, burgundy suede peep toe pumps

I like the color, but not sure about this shirt. I think it's too fussy for me. It was pretty inexpensive, and it's nice to have a white short-sleeve shirt, but the boning and the super-pert sleeves are a little much for me.

J. Crew gray short sleeve cardigan, black lace skirt by Whitewash, white Caslon tank top, pink patent Furla sandals, Nordstrom tissue cashmere wrap

I like the abstractness of this mishmash outfit. I think the shape is flattering, and I can take the wrap off when it (or if) it gets warm today. It's SUPPOSED to get warm today!

Which is why I didn't wear what I originally put on, even though it was so cute! I tried my new burgundy cardigan with this skirt and a wide patent belt and a pair of patent leather heels. It was adorable! But, really more of a Fall outfit and I thought I might be too hot in a long sleeve sweater if it really does get to 77 deg F today.

Is It Only Wednesday?

Black linen wrap dress with white satin trim, black Linea Paolo snip-toe flats with bow

I think this dress is very flattering in the waist, but the sleeves are too matronly. I am going to see if I can get the sleeves altered to be more fitted. I wanted to wear it with a pair of pink and beige sandals, so break up the stark contrasts a little, or my new red shoes but it is cold today and I have to walk a lot.

I broke down and bought a beautiful burgundy cardigan last night at Banana Republic. It matches my new shoes, and I can wear it with, among other things, my new black lace skirt. In fact, that skirt would look very Victorian-chic with my new oxford pumps!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Nordstrom T-shirt, Semantiks gray pinstripe pants, black and gray suede and croc-stamped leather pumps by Linea Paolo (photo of shoes from a different day).

Aren't the sleeves on this shirt cool? I love it. Not sure about these pants, though. I need to get the cuffs taken out of these pants, and I need to loose a little weight! They are getting a little snug...I'm working on that.

Monday, July 21, 2008

Valette navy linen shirtdress, black suede Sigerson Morrison pointy-toe flats

Doesn't get much more simple than that! That's why I love a dress! Especially this one. I think it's very chic.

New Anniversary Sale Clothes!

New Valette herringbone dress. With new belt and Classiques sheer knit turtleneck, and with Caslon white blouse. Black Amalfi pumps.

3.1 Phillip Lim t-shirt with draped "rosebud" sleeves

Robin's egg blue Tory Burch cashmere sweater

Stuart Weitzman dark red patent Oxford pumps

AK Anne Klein pleated dress, cashmere tissue wrap, pink Furla envelope bag, black satin and sequin Dries van Noten pumps

Friday - 30th Birthday

black and tan espadrilles, black classiques jersey top, khaki cotton wide leg pants from Michael Michael Kors

I didn't realize until too late that these shoes look like sneakers under pants! Other than that this outfit is simple and nice. These pants just don't iron very well and they wrinkle so easily. they look much better when they're ironed. Oh well, it's Friday and my birthday! I may have to find a different pair of shoes to wear at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, which also starts today. Check it out:

Caslon blue satin blouse, black lace skirt with silk waist detail from Whitewash, black suede flats by Sigerson Morrison

I had to wear a cardigan with this to work because it was in the 50s and overcast when I left the house. The weather forecast says it's supposed to get hot today, though. We'll see.

I love this skirt! I think it might need to be taken in slightly at the waist. Plus I really wish I had the Plum cardigan from my shopping list to wear with it. This top is OK, but not very special.

While scanning the Sartorialist blog I saw this picture again. I love the over-the-top gladiator sandals with a flowy flowered dress...I may have to purchase some new sandals soon. Preferable on sale!

Anniversary Sale Hopeful

I'm hoping to purchase this Vallette tweed dress on sale at the Anniversary sale. It's strapless (those are my bra straps (-: )! How cute is that? I can wear either a thin, long sleeve turtleneck under it or a cardigan over it.

Green Classiques silk chiffon top, black cotton Classiques shorts, suede Paolo heels.

I'm having a really tough time at work. I'm trying to change jobs and it's not going super smoothly. Can't wait till it's over and done! This outfit is a cute summer work outfit. Not sure about the shoes with this outfit (too heavy?) I should have worn my espadrilles!

In other news, I'm so syched about my planned Anniversary sale purchases! They include a Vallette strapless tweed dress (sounds weird, I know, but so cute! I'll post a pic), a blue ruffled cashmere sweater by Tory Burch, and a black t-shirt with puffy ("rosebud") sleeves from 3.1 Phillip Lim!

I think I can take the tweed suit and rosebud sleeve t-neck off my shopping list once I've made my purchases!

Rebecca Taylor silk skirt with asymetric hem in pink, peach, lavendar, mauve; white cami with lace trim, gray J. Crew short sleeve cardigan, silver Me Too wedge sandals

Monday, July 14, 2008

NEW RN Convertible gray jersey dress, silver Nine West sandals, black lace cami from Banana Republic

Love my new dress! I think it's very modern looking plus it's comfortable and flattering!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

AK Ann Taylor chiffon top with houndstooth print, black Michael Michael Kors pumps with white beads, black Classiques Pencil skirt

I should have worn a belt with this...I need a new one because the only one I have is patent.

Army green eyelet cargo shorts, purple BP tank, lavendar stem organic cotton t-shirt

Friday, July 11, 2008

Classiques red, orange and cream ribbed silk jacket, paige wide leg jeans, cream caslon camisol, gold BP wooden wedge sandals

I've get all sorts of compliments when I wear this jacket (finally got the colors to come out in my picture). I'm glad, because I thought the fabric and colors were fabulous, but I know it might be a bit older. That's why I wore it with jeans today. This outfit is also very low maintenance and comfortable.

Going out Thursday

gold BP sandals, Paige wide leg jeans, green and gold Live t-shirt

We saw Live (the band) play at Marrymoor park in Redmend yesterday. They were great! I like that venue, as well, because there is lots of space and you can maneuver around easily (and not as hilly as the Gorge). The weather was beautiful and I got this t-shirt!

Linen blue, white and yellow skirt from Banana Republic (hand-me-down from my mom this weekend), blue Ann Taylor blouse, silver Me Too wedge sandals

This is a nice summer oufit. Not super dressy, but I think it's a comfortable and work-appropriate summer outfit that fits well.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Do Ri silk floral shift dress, black leggings, Michael Michael Kors black perforated pumps with white beads.

We had a concert today after work at Marymore park in Redmond. It was really fun! The weather was warm and the music was good. I wish I had gotten time to change into pants, but actually I wasn't too uncomfortable in this. I did change to flats for the show.

New Clothes, Sandals

black and white linen wrap dress
Whitewash black lace skirt (purple sweater isn't new)

Born flipflops in gold leather

My mom and I bought the same sandals and the same wrap dress! I like the dress because I can wear it to church (although it is a little conservative), and the skirt is really flattering. I am struggling to find something to wear with the skirt. I think I'll be shopping for something during Nordstrom's Anniversary sale, which starts on the 18th. the flipflops are just beachy, casual, but stylish shoes that are really comfortable. They are a little nicer than the super casual beachwear flipflops that I currently own
