Monday - back from Chicago
I think the shape of this is flattering and I like that it's a print...but it just seems so boring! I need some ideas for making this dress more fun and stylish.

New Habitual jeans
I got these jeans for $80 including shipping. What amazes me about these is that they are the exact pair I tried to order from Nordstrom.com when they sent me the wrong item - except that they are the correct size! Initially when I ordered them on nordstrom.com they were about $120 and I had to order one size too big because they were out of my size. Then, when they arrived, they were not what I had ordered at all! So I feel pretty lucky to have scored these on giltgroup.com for such a great price and in the correct size. Plus, they are really awesome! I love the color and that they are plain, but high-waisted which gives them a funky, cool edge. I plan to hem these so I can wear them with flats, since I have another pair of high-waisted jeans already hemmed for heels.

Why you should keep things you love even if you grow out of them.
I love the shape of this dress and the material (it's brown silk). I haven't been able to wear this dress for a year or so, because I gained too much weight. Now I fit into again! I can't wait till the weather warms up enough for me to wear it.
Monday
This needs my wide belt to both emphasize the waist and also to hold the dress up a little. I felt like it was falling down a little all day. On another note, these boots are thrashed already! The tips are chewed up, which I can live with, but I noticed today that one of the heels has a large gash in it. Probably from getting it stuck in a grate, although I obviously didn't notice when it happened. These boots were one of my first purchases after I started working for Nordstrom, so I've had them for two years now. They are Stuart Weitzman boots; high quality leather, very comfy and classic. I'm sad that I've let them become so beat up, plus now I have to go through the unpleasant experience of trying to replaced a beloved pair of boots!

New high waisted jeans
The angle isn't the most flattering, but you get the idea...these are my new 'Lanky' jeans by Rich and Skinny. They are winners! Just what I wanted. I think they'll look really cute with all things tucked. Now I just need to get them hemmed up and the waist nipped in and tiny bit.

Dress 3
Really cute DKNY dress. The bodice is jersey, and the skirt and sash are a Japanese cotton, like what they make Yuukatas out of. I'm a sucker for anything Japanese! I did not buy it as it was almost $300! Maybe for 1/3rd that price...
Dress 2
DKNY dress with blue taffeta skirt. The bodice and yoke of the skirt are jersey, and the skirt is stiff taffeta, which unfortunately makes the pleats in the skirt fall slightly askew, so this was a NO for me.
Wednesday - Newly Altered Milly Skirt
It might be difficult to see, but this top is actually a sleeveless ruffled top with a v-neck cardigan over the top. I love the top, and hate having to cover it up with a cardigan! the ruffles are too thick to put anything but a v-neck over. I have thought about experimenting with a button up white shirt or white elbow-sleeve tee under it, but I didn't have time this morning.

Tuesday - Newly Altered Tweed Skirt
Someone at work today was wearing tweed dress shorts and deep burgundy tights...I need some for next winter!
Had the waist taken in and it fits great!

These are the 'Fiona' mid air pumps. They have air cushions in the footbed to make them more comfy.

New dress
I am going to be purchasing this dress on the 20th, when there will be an employee sale on this brand at my work (Nanette Lepore). It is a great cut for me! I can't wait. I also tried on a silk Rebecca Taylor dress that fit great, but I felt like I was spending too much money...

New sweater, old camisole that I thought I had gotten rid of! This cami is perfect for under my velvet dress...can I wear velvet in the spring?
